Make your emails biodegradable

TicTag is a simple text to add to emails to indicate their lifespan and make deletion easier.

A free, very simple idea to clean up our inboxes.

Our inboxes are digital landfills

360 billion emails are sent every day. Most become useless within hours but remain stored forever on servers consuming energy permanently.

We dare not delete

Fear of deleting an important email, lack of time, no clear reference to know what to keep. We either keep everything or delete everything.

Billions of emails stored for nothing

Dead data accumulating, more and more servers, energy and materials consumed continuously. An invisible but very real carbon footprint.

What if the email said when to delete it?

If the sender indicated the lifespan of their email via an easily detectable tag, everyone could massively delete single-use emails. That is exactly what TicTag offers.

The solution

What if the email itself indicated
when it becomes obsolete?

TicTag is a simple text to paste into your emails (the tags) to indicate their lifespan. Nothing to install, nothing to configure. It works in every inbox in the world.

1

The sender tags

They copy/paste a TicTag tag at the bottom of their email — TicTag1Y, TicTag3Y or TicTag5Y — to indicate its lifespan.
2

The recipient receives a dated email

They know at a glance that this email can be deleted in 1, 3 or 5 years. No more hesitation.
3

Sorting becomes simple and massive

Search "TicTag1Y", "TicTag3Y" or "TicTag5Y" in your inbox, filter by date, and delete everything at once.

The 3 TicTag tags

These 3 tags let you set a lifespan for your email at the moment of sending: 1, 3 or 5 years. Simple text that works everywhere, in every inbox, without any configuration. Copy the tags exactly as shown. Full tagging guide →

TicTag at scale

The idea makes most sense for all transactional emails — order confirmations, delivery notifications, validation codes, newsletters, etc. Added to a template once, a single tag is enough to date millions of emails in one go. You can do it yourself, for free (how to tag?) or we can help (request an audit).
